Christian Bayili Clarksville, TN

I'm graduating in a week with a Bachelor degree in Computer, Information Technology. But I am worried because all the jobs that I am seeing are asking for 2-5 years of experience. Also I am not sure which job in the field we be a good fit for me. Thank you

Hello Christian.
Congratulations on graduating! Having your degree will open many doors for you. Once you get some experience, there will be even more opportunities. There are several positions for entry level IT people in the Clarksville area. Check out indeed.com, monster.com, and other job websites.

The IT field is very broad, and areas of interest depend on the individual's interests. I suggest applying for the positions that you think you would be interested in. Then once you get an IT job, learn as much as you can, with the goal of getting some experience under your belt.

After a year or two, you will have gained some experience, and likely, quite a few contacts. At that point feel free to move on, if you so desire. Your experience will guide you to the fields that you like, and the experience will likely move you up a pay grade bracket.

Good luck, and thanks for your service!

Hi Christian,

Many technology companies have programs around hiring US Veterans. Some of them have programs you can join, get the skills needed for a job in that specific company and get hired on after graduating from that program.

Here is the link for my company program: https://www.servicenow.com/blogs/2021/solution-consulting-academy-helps-veterans.html

Another suggestion is to look for veterans who work at the company you are trying to join and ask them for advice. Those people have LinkedIn profiles. Write them a note.

Good luck!
