Community Guidelines

To keep ACP AdvisorNet a place for quality, respectful, and professional discussion, we ask that Veterans and Advisors follow our Community Guidelines. By doing so, we can ensure that our community continues to support veterans’ career goals.


Veterans

  • Respect community members and communicate your thoughts and ideas in a professional manner.
  • Thank community members who respond to your public questions and/or private messages.
  • Ask questions about career-development, employment, or small business. Adhere to the question-and-answer format and include details that will help Advisors give personalized advice.
  • Proofread before publishing your comments.
  • Assign a topic to your question
  • Give feedback and share your progress with community members that answer your questions. Let fellow Veterans know about advice that has helped you.
  • Personalize your profile and include information about your military background and/or professional experience. We recommend detailing a few of your professional goals to facilitate conversations with community members.

Advisors

  • Respect community members and communicate your thoughts and ideas in a professional manner.
  • Encourage Veterans to keep working towards their career and professional goals.
  • Answer questions to offer advice to Veterans on their career development.
  • Be Responsive if you’ve opted in to receive private messages. One goal of this site is to help Veterans network, so remaining engaged in the community is helpful.
  • Personalize your profile and include information about your professional background. If you are a Veteran, please share your branch, rank, and years of service. We also recommend detailing a few topics you are comfortable offering guidance and assistance with.

Violations include, but are not limited to:

  • Asking questions that are unrelated to career-development, employment, or small business topics.
  • Requesting funding for small business and other for-profit ventures.
  • Advertising for-profit ventures or for-profit services
  • Publishing false credentials in the public forum and in your user profile
  • Posting spam i.e. links to sites that contain viruses or malicious programs
  • Ranting or publishing hateful remarks that can cause harm to the community.
  • Publishing content that is incomprehensible or has been removed previously by the community moderators
  • Misrepresenting yourself, claiming false credentials or expertise, giving advice in a way that might cause someone harm and/or inciting or advocating violence or harmful practices.
  • Violating the law. Users are expected to comply with all applicable local, state and federal regulations and laws.

Reporting Violations and Potential Resolution

ACP AdvisorNet relies on the community to identify and report offenses. If you find a violation, email info@acp-advisornet.org to raise your concern. ACP AdvisortNet reserves the right to take appropriate action, at our discretion, against violators of these guidelines or the Terms of Service. We reserve the right to revise these guidelines at any time and without notice.
