Patrick,
Develop a written and personal "networking plan".

Samantha, thanks for the great guidelines!

Alan, management, operations, and financial consulting are particular interests of mine. I'm afraid I can't boast of a robust background in any of those, however. The school I go to offers a degree in Consulting through our business school so I'm looking forward to taking classes that deal specifically with the field. I recently went to an information session on campus where representatives from Booz Allen Hamilton came to speak to students and was immediately intrigued with the complex problem sets they face and the critical thinking it takes to be an asset to clients.

Patrick, Consulting in what? Unfortunately, the term "consulting" is used in so many ways that are not really consulting. But, before you can do any kind of consulting, what expertises or experience do you have that would give you credentials to do consulting in the insustry you would be working in. So, is it management, sales, operations, finance, logistics, warehousing, packaging, that you have some background in?
