Hi Marquel,

Do you have any background as developer? If not, I suggest you take a course on web development, this provide you with insight.

Thank you for your service.

Hi Marquel,

You might consider offering your services on a pro-bono basis or low cost basis to organizations in need. This will allow you to provide some outstanding products, and in doing so, provide you with:
1. References that can support your work
2. Examples of work you have done to go with your resume

The other people who responded have good suggestions too.

Employers want to know you can do the work. A degree or certificate shows you could in an academic setting. The real-world examples show them you can work outside of the academic setting in the real world.

Good luck!

Hi Marquel,

From your bio, I see you have a degree in IT & Graphic Design. Not sure what the industry standard is but I do know a number of Universities/Colleges offer Graphic Design Professional Certifications (both in-person and online). In your case it may be redundant. Though, if you have some residual GI BILL educational benefits it can’t hurt.

My suggestion is to reach out to people in your network, those 2nd and 3rd connections on LinkedIn as well as via the Community Feature on this platform who do similar work in the field you wish to enter and schedule informational type calls to get their thoughts!

Hope this helps and best of luck,
Robert
