Recent Graduate with a M.A. in Procurement & Acquisitions looking for a internship/career

Veteran

Anthony Johnson Fayetteville, NC

Though I've been retired for some 12 years now I went back to school to further my education and expand my employment options with a M.A. Degree I'm searching most of the major job websites but as of yet have not had many replies back for interviews, any suggestions on how I should proceed from here? I'm willing to relocate currently working contract work in Afghanistan but not in my field.

Anthony,

I'm an Anthony as well. I currently work for Lockheed Martin. Personal e-mail is tonycortazzo@gmail.com. Shoot me a message if you'd like and we can set up a time to discuss your current position and the best route to move forward. By the way, I went to Penn State which has the top ranked supply chain (procurement program) in the nation. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Anthony,
Thanks for your service!

I assume you already have LinkedIn account. Once it is set up, it frequently (~weekly) notify you available procurement jobs in your area. Be sure your resume is concise and robust.

Check out career sites from Fortune 100 companies such as Apple, HP, IBM, and Cisco….
Few of my laid off Procurement associates just got hired recently so there are some opportunities in a tight market, depending on the region.

Below is the link to J&J career site which update daily. Check frequently and there are few procurement job postings.
Good luck!!!

Thank you for the reply, No never heard of DEVEX but I'm on it now. I work for AECOM or here it's AC First and they know my background and have not even considered me for those type of positions I have applied for. I'll look where you suggest would you or anyone possibly take a look at my resume to see if I'm marketing myself properly? I have found this site called weapply4u.com that advertise they apply to approx 2000 companies for you most companies that don't advertise open positions. What you think?

I assume you have looked at DEVEX. In my line of work, we live and die by procurement. The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, United Nations all need competant procurement people. AECOM, DAI, TetraTach ARD, and a host of other international development contractors are on constant need. Locations include all of the top vacarion destinations in the world .... Afghanistan, Pakistan, South Sudan, Haiti .... but there is also work in West Africa, Southern Africa, Indonesin, Philippines and other less exciting locations.

And don't forget the international and domestic construction industry, energy industry and transportation industry.

Afghanistan is a great place to network. It is such a small town and it contains people from everywhere who do everything.
