Williams,
Thanks for your service. Now let's get to work and help you achieve your career goals.

Please let me know what you think of these 4 actionable suggestions. Please have the courtesy to continue to interact and provide feedback.

1) Create a Linked In profile and embed your resume within your LinkedIn profile.

2) Add the URL for your LinkedIn profile to your acp-advisornet.org profile

3) Start a new discussion here on acp-advisornet.org, and request a review of your resume. Describe your career goals, skills an interests. Include the link to your LinkedIn profile that contains your resume.

4) Start a new discussion and request assistance developing your personalized strategy or plan to find mentors. I have several ideas.

Several potential ways to find mentors and advisors:
acp-usa.org
acp-advisornet.org
The Veteran Mentor Network group on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/Veteran-Mentor-Network-4466143/about)
The MC4 group on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/MilitaryCivilian-Career-Coaching-Connection-MC4-3722272/about )
ementorprogram.org
toastmasters.org
Your college's alumni network
Relevant professional organizations (e.g. pmi.org, shrm.org, apics.org, and many others depending on your career goals and interests)

And that is just a start...

I agree with everything Tom said, and Eddie. In addition, if you want someone to review your LinkedIn profile and/ or resume, I am happy to do so.

Cindy....Ditto's to everything Tom suggested in his posted answer.

I would also add to look for trade groups in the area or field you think you want to pursue, and see if they have any local chapters in your area that hold meetings that you might attend. That is a great way to network and to meet other people who are actually already working in your chosen field. For instance, I am a TV & Radio Broadcast Engineer. We have a group called the Society of Broadcast Engineers. We also have a local chapter that meets every other month. We actually encourage and strive to find people such as yourself looking to get into our field to attend our meetings so that we may assist them in getting into the field and help grow the next generation of Broadcast Engineers. There may very well be a similar group in your area serving your chosen field. GOOD LUCK.
