I will be ETSing in about one year and I am considering attaining my PMP certificaiton, if able. I'm also wondering how much it will actually help. From my research, it seems worthwhile.

Mitchell, The first step would be to log into PMI.org and build a profile on your experiences that would help build the required experience hours that are required to seek your certification.
Join a local PMI organization in your home town. You can attend meetings and earn Professional Development Units (PDU) without being in a certified status.
