Veteran

William Tillery Brentwood, TN

I have recently moved back to the area after completing another year long tour on Active Duty. I am looking for opportunities to utilize my skills and abilities acquired in both military and civilian service that are quite divers. Background synopsis: Military: Plans and Programs, Civilian: Project Management, Attorney, Law Enforcement.

Hi William,
Seems like you should be in much better shape looking for jobs in Nashville comparing with many other states! TN is a business friendly state (non-union so far....), no state income tax…

Many companies are moving to and expanding in Nashville. Nissan is continuing building additional manufacturing plants, Amazon is expanding their distribution center and a major Health Care company recently moves their HQ to Nashville adding 2000 jobs....My son-in-law and daughter were heavily recruited and moved to Nashville recently in leadership roles with major companies.

Suggest set up LinkedIn ASAP and do major networking as Jamie suggested. With your vast experiences, you do need to decide what area (project Management, strategic planning, legal…) and the specific field that you are passion on. Do not limit your search. Leadership, project management, strategic planning are all transferable skills that can apply to most industries…

Good luck and thanks for your service!

Hi William, thank you for your service to our country. My father was in the USAF. I have been in HR for 20+ years.

I can't help with a job in Nashville, but:

Make sure you have a well thought out and robust LinkedIn (LI) profile ASAP. LI is "the" place to see and be seen for career opportunities, and the ability to connect and network with like minded people. Make sure your LI profile matches/similar to your resume (experience, timeline, education, etc.).

Google the particular industries you are interested in working in, and see if their are any industry groups you and join and network with.

Sorry I couldn't help on Nashville job. Good luck with all...
