Check out elance.com. Setup a free account. Research what others have posted. You may possess the skill to start your own online firm?

Hi Anthony,

Thank you for your response. I am actually looking to work in Account Management or Customer Relationship Management.

Again, I am looking to work. I already have a B.A. in Advertising from the University of Maryland, College Park and an M.A. in Advertising from Michigan State University in East Lansing.

Any leads on getting work at IBM?

Erek,

What area of advertising are you thinking of going into.. the best advice I can give will depend on this..

That being said, you probably want to look at colleges that are best known for their advertising curriculums - either full or part-time.. these kinds of credentials will provide you with a competitive advantage. It's very competitive to get into any agency that does good work.

Do some research in this area. The nationally renown schools I know in your area are Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills which is basically a design school and, of course, University of Michigan which has a bunch of different marketing-related majors.

Hope this helps.

* Be sure to come back, be interactive, participate and provide feedback. Take personal ownership of your transition and your career development, and serve as your own case manager. Veterans and proteges that are active and participatory are more likely to achieve their goals.

* Use the ACP Advisor+ Directory https://acp-advisornet.org/directory

* Request a mentor that is in advertising from ACP's one-on-one mentoring program.

* Research professional organization related to your interest and goals that may have local chapters and that may be able to provide mentors and networking opportunities.

* Use LinkedIn to network. Join relevant LinkedIn groups, such as groups related to advertising, Veterans, etc.

I wrote this up for the "Veteran Mentor Network" group on LinkedIn

Utilize LinkedIn's free "Advanced Search" tool to browse the profiles of fellow members.
* Browse profiles and find members of the group that meet various criteria, including: keyword, industry, title, current or past company, geographic location, etc.

* Reach out to fellow members of the group. Invite fellow members to participate in specific discussions, so you and other members can benefit, request informational interviews, networking assistance, etc.
