Hi everyone,
I've become pretty interested in commodities trading over the last couple of months, especially physical commodities trading with a company like Glencore. Does anyone out there work in the field who can offer me some advice on breaking into the field or know someone who can? Thanks!

I agree with Greg, if you can find a way to get in through a training program, excellent. If you want to go the Wall St. route, buy some books on financial markets, and the specific commodity then you would like to trade. Learn about trends and drivers of that commodity, then utilize your network to get to know traders and see if you can shadow them, then position yourself for an internship.
Hi Trent, I have been in the business for 38 years and got my start with Cargill Inc, who is the largest privately held company in the USA and still possibly the world . They deal with a host of commodities and still hire young people into their management training program. They are based in Minneapolis MN and you can find out more from their website. Incredibly pioneering in the field, strong values and a balance sheet that is very solid...something you need in this market. Good luck.
