When I retired in 2012, I found federal and state programs that provide funding to offset costs of training for veterans to help obtain certifications.
I’m not sure which, of any of these are still available (under current administration), but perhaps look into these:
1. Veteran Workforce Initiative (WIA) https://veteranspriority.workforcegps.org
2. Your state Veteran's Employment Specialist <your State> Department Labor & Employment
3. Veteran Career Coach at Department of Veterans Affairs. VA for Vets Coaching Center 1 (855) VA-4-VETS. Http://VAforVets.va.gov
4. Leader Quest. I was eligible for WIA grant (to attend LeaderQuest training) by completing 1/2 dozen Colorado workforce programs. After completing the 1/2 dozen day-long classes, I received substantial funding towards Leader Quest certification programs. Contact the Director of Career Training Services

If you can pursue any volunteer opportunities, contract jobs, certification programs or even CEU (Continuing Education Units) courses will show how interested you are and make recruiters take notice. This will aid you in finding an entry level position. Take advantage of in-house professional development and training programs available, which always shows you are willing to do and learn more.
