Choosing Between AWS and Azure for Cloud Specialization: Guidance for Training Individuals

Veteran

Michael Palomino Schertz, TX

For individuals undergoing cloud training who are undecided about specializing in a particular platform, what criteria should be considered to make an informed decision? With experience in both AWS and Azure but lacking a preference, and without holding any certifications for either platform, I aim to begin with foundational level certifications.

What factors should guide my choice?

Is it typical for individuals to obtain certifications and training for both AWS and Azure platforms?

Hello Michael.
Amazon (AWS) has the most market share, and has been around the longest. All else being equal, that would be the one to study first. That said, if you have been coding in C# or .NET (Microsoft products) then you might want to go the Azure route.

I just did a search for both on Indeed.com, in the San Antonio area, and it confirmed what I said. There were 191 jobs for AWS and 93 for Azure.

No problem getting certs in both.

Best of luck, and thanks for your service.
