Thank you for your service. There are several websites where you can crowdsource logos, where you provide a general idea of what you are looking for and multiple graphic designers will submit designs for your approval. This is will provide a much wider range of options compared to hiring a single graphic designer. Examples include www.99designs.com, www.designhill.com and www.designcrowd.com

Pick a country....Mexico, Sri Lanka, Jordan....get your pass port in order and go see some manufacturing groups....it is all going to come down to your personal relations with manufacturers....use multiple sources...they all play the same game....irrevocable letter of credit....minimum order. The rag biz is very tough. Many competitors....come up with some good designs and you will have KO's (knock offs) selling against you. I was on the electronics side of this import biz....be careful of getting a container of junk....you cannot sell. You have to be able to be on site or have someone you trust on site to watch QC. Know you supply chain. You have to use import licensed entry to the US contractors. Scope out what taxes are involved on the country you use to make the garment. My 40 plus years working with trusted manufacturers was great. The profits can be big. Good luck.

Hi Daryl, depending on the business model and goals, product is made anywhere from the USA to Asia, Middle East , Mexico, Central America etc. I can help you with an offline conversation if you want as I was SVP of manufacturing for Men's Apparel for a large public corporation. Some things for you to think about so you can get the right guidance.
1) What type of products are you looking to source? knits, sweaters, outerwear etc.,?
2) How many styles are you going to start with? i.e.: a crew t , v neck T, cargo short, hoodie etc.?
3) How many color ways per style do you see?
4) What kind of quantities are you looking to manufacture by style and color?
5) How frequently do you plan to buy? Meaning, will you buy 100 t shirts once a year and sell them or buy that 100 shirts 4 times in increments of 25
6) How many different fabrications within the collection do you envision?
7) When you get involved with logos, there is art and development, but you also need legal help to make sure you are not in someone else's Intellectual Property.

Now, you need to think about a business plan, who owns and sells the inventory, cash flow etc. I'm not trying to overwhelm you and would love to talk live with you. My point is many things need to be factored in to a sourcing decision. The TOTAL cost of the product is a factor of the business model. Made in USA , while more expensive, could be the right model or countries like Bangladesh, Egypt and many other parts of the globe become options with bigger quantities.
Please consider reaching out to me for an off line discussion at mtcottell55@gmail.com
Thank you for your service Daryl and GOOD LUCK to you!
Best Regards, Mike

Thailand has the best raw goods / materials for clothing. In addition, many sewshops are there run by family. Would be worth the trip to see about it.

JWT is the best in the business for logo and business presence design. https://www.jwt.com/
