Stock Broker Trainee positions

Veteran

I currently work for a fortune 100 Wall St. insurance company as an analyst. I recently went on an interview for a Wall St financial firm for a position as a stock broker trainee. The company provides intensive training and sponsors the series 7 and series 63 exams, as well as registers for the NYSE and NASDAQ. The purpose of my question is to find out if there are any companies that provide compensated training and a salary job upon licensing along with compensation. I am extremely interested in becoming a broker or trader but cannot afford to dedicate 60-70 hours a week of unpaid work. Any suggestions?

Chris,
I suggest that you try to meet some veterans who are already in the business. ACP should be able to help link you up.

Chris - most of the large investment firms offer training programs with a fixed starting salary. This will allow you to take your exams & begin to build a book of business without worrying about fees and/or commissions right away. Salaries typically decline and ultimately phase out completely over a period of 2 years.

I would begin by looking at various firms' Linkedin pages and reaching out directly to the branch managers in your area.

Good luck. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.
