The position entails professionalism -- in the form of state licensing -- & that is appealing. Also, emphasize the role that insurance plays within financial services & personal/family financial security. Benefits, rather than features. :)

The hurdle you'll have to overcome is the bias against "Insurance Sales". No war-fighter dreams of being an insurance salesperson; however, you and I both know how rewarding it can be; both financially for you and altruistically for the families you impact. I recommend gearing your value proposition for veterans to their willingness to serve others; their focus on safety and security; and their expectation to receive top-notch training.

I wouldn't be turned off by the any of your bullet points, but I might also be attracted by aspects of the job such as:

-Independent operator; ready to meet the challenges of business ownership
-Serves clients (not customers); prepared to lead others in the community
-Develop meaningful solutions to complex problems in his or her community

I don't think any of those would have turned me off.

I do recommend that you define "computer skills" more narrowly though. Most veterans with leadership experience will be familiar, to varying degrees, with MS Office. Some people might be daunted by the potential meaning of "computer skills" though because it could be more than that.

. One of the response seems to indicate it is for Insurance sales. However your job description does not explicitly state the role. You have listed some generic skills you are looking for, to attract candidates its important to identify what is in it for them.
