Luke, Neil and John;

Thank you for taking time to respond I really do appreciate the feedback and fully understand the down turn in the O&G industry we are currently in. My heart has always been here but with this economy and due to the number of employees who are looking to get back in the competition is tight right now.

I will look into each of the companies and industries you have provided and will keep you posted of my progress.

John - At the moment I just need work and need to continue to provide for my family. Any industry where I can utilize my set of skills would do for me. If you have other suggestions which have not been shared please don't hesitate. I will follow through with each one.

Thank you again for your time gentlemen,
RL

Hey Richard I live in TX and have spent a lot of time in Houston, I would strongly suggest staying away from O&G at this time especially as a new field for you. There are so many O&G guys out of work you will have a really hard time competing. Although you may get lucky - if you're really stuck on O&G, give it a shot. Otherwise I suggest looking at healthcare logistics and getting a start there. Then if you want you can maybe move over to O&G once oil prices rebound. In healthcare you'll want to look at the major 3rd party logistics (3PL) providers, like McKesson, Cardinal, GlaxoSmith Kline. You could also look at FedEx or UPS and cut your teeth with those companies doing logistics work - logistics is logistics, really doesn't matter the industry - those companies are starting to take over a lot of general logistics work, not just delivering packages.

I was in Houston during two oil booms and one oil bust. Suggest you look a ahead a few more years and not go gas and oil. Supply Chain in electronics is where I would go. Original Equipment Manufacturer...China Based...US wholesale and then retail distribution. The Mainland Chinese and Taiwan are in a big push to cut out the US middle man...they want to distribute and sell direct. Take a look at sterenusa.com.

You may have noticed the economic conditions of the oil & gas markets. In addition to 2016, this similar economic market status happened in 2000 and in 2008. The job market you are pursuing is definitely cyclical; and the current 2016 cycle has not yet bottomed out. What other career fields are you interested in ?
