I agree with Rob's advice and would also add that you could look for positions with the companies that supply parts and equipment to the shipbuilders. Once you know the type of position you are looking for, you can set up searches on the individual company websites or even set up a general Google search so that results get delivered right to your inbox. You can keep these searches active even after you find employment to assist you with networking in the industry.

The best place for you to start is ship building companies. You can use Google for a list of companies. Do some research on who they are and what types of ships they build, then you can match your background to what they do. I'm sure because of your background that you will find many companies not only willing to help you find the resources you need, but also wanting to work with you.
