Good evening,

Many of my peers that I served with in the Marines are currently or will be starting their new careers as consultants after completing their MBA programs. On this board, I noticed a similar trend, particular for my fellow JMOs. I myself am interested in changing tracks in my career towards this option, so I would appreciate any feedback/advice/commentaries you would have to a few questions:

1) To my fellow veterans: What made you want to pursue consulting? How did you pursue it? Did you feel your service prepared you (hard/soft skills)?

2) To employers/managers of veterans: Did you see a noticeable difference (good/bad) in your talent who were veterans and were not? What advice would you give to those seeking a similar career path?

Lastly, what advice would you have for me as someone with very little financial background (quite possibly, the opposite as a former Peace Corps volunteer)? Before applying for an MBA, I am considering applying for internships/entry level work to dip my feet in the waters before diving in. Any recommendations/advice?
