I am retired US Navy Intelligence Officer seeking a career in healthcare. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, but I am interested in pursuing either Healthcare Administration or RN. Do you know how I could get started?

Get an RN at least. BSN if you want to do Administration or get an Advanced Practioner degree. You can email me for a direct chat.

Paige,

From a nursing educator and hospital administrator:

As far as a degree in nursing, there are a lot of different programs/tracks that someone can take. I do know that the University of KY has a program for vets who were medics. They also have a five-semester RN program (must be full-time) for students who have a bachelors degree in another field. Actually the Bachelors or even Masters in Healthcare Administration should not be too difficult given her background. The Kentucky Board of Nursing knows about programs in Kentucky. Advisors in various schools can give specifics and if I were she, I would look online at the programs available in Kentucky. Of course, if you call a specific school they will steer you toward their program. A LOT of bachelor degree in nursing programs are offering shorter tracks to individuals who have a degree in another field.

Hope this helps. [[end of her message]]

Please let me know if I can do anything else to help in your search.

Paige,

Greetings from someone who grew up in Goodlettsville, just down the road. I'm a pastor, but a woman in our church has had a long career in both hospital administration and nursing education. I will send your question to her and post here what she has to say.
