Transitioning this spring and would really like to stay in the Montgomery area. Expertise in operations management but would consider wide range of options. Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated!

If you are in an area that doesn't have the jobs you're looking for, have a look at flexjobs.com. I found my last 3 remote jobs there, in management and PM. They have professional, senior and management work, definitely not some stuffing envelopes nonsense.

Paul, Thank you for your service.

Its a little over two hours from you but their are good number of jobs in Logistics near Mobile where the Army Material Command (AMC) is located. I have a contact from one of the major contractors running a large Logistics program at the Redstone Arsenal. Also, L-3 Communications also has a large MRO facility near Madison where they are modernizing and repairing Military and Civilian aircraft.

Paul,

My Mother was living near you in Alexander City so I'm familiar with the area. She loved the casino! Me not so much!

I looked at www.indeed.com and found 3400 job postings in the Montgomery area so you have much to chose from. I'd also look at Simplyhired.com.

Find and take advantage of the job placement services at Auburn and UA. Join the local Rotary Club - great for networking.

Don't shy - tell your Church, friends, Linkedin contacts that you want a job.

Regards,

Phil

Hopefully you are already engaged on LinkedIn and have a full profile. I would recommend joining the Military-Civilian Career Coaching Connections (MC4) Group that has a number of lengthy ongoing threads on this type of transition.
