Besides Linkedin, would also suggest local Chambers of Commerce. Despite being an online world, there's a lot to be said for these events, especially if you have a specific location in mind.

I have also found the "Network After Work" events to be quite good in exchanging ideas and leads...

Your LinkedIn profile is perhaps as valueable (moreso?) as a resume post, so ensure that this profile is complete and 100% consistent with your resume content.

Hi Luis, There are tons of job websites out there. Monster, Career Builder, etc. Google search "job websites" and look at these as opportunities to post a resume.

Many large companies have their own websites where the post jobs and accept resumes. Think of the companies where you think you could make contributions and explore their resumes.

Another route that may help, especially in today's cost-conscious market, is to find staffing agencies or headhunters - these companies would have resume help available and could help find openings that may not be posted elsewhere. There are a large number of companies today that prefer to hire a contractor first and then make them a permanent hire later.

Good luck!

You may add the URL for your LinkedIn profile and online resume to your ACP-AdvisorNet profile.

Hi Luis,

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the site does not currently support the uploading of attachments. Typically, veterans will post a question to give the community a sense of their career interests, goals, military experience, education, etc. and will then ask if any Advisors think they could help rework their resume. This way, Advisors that volunteer to look at your resume will have a stronger understanding on your past experiences and the type of career you are looking to break into. Participants then usually exchange email addresses for you to share your resume with these individuals.

I hope this answers your question.

Good luck,
Ali, ACP AdvisorNet
