Hello my name is Mario Sagona and I was in the marine corps I have passed out over 500 resumes and filled out 100 or more applications. The only response that I have got back is for a door to door AT&T salesman which is not the best of work because of a gunshot wound to my knee. I have a college degree in liberal arts and I am three semesters away from getting my bachelors degree in political science I also received my Journeymans certificate for woodframe construction while I was in the service my MOS was a combat engineer. I have great people skills but I can not find a job hopefully someone can help me.

Mario - I know it's difficult. Keep your head up - - it will happen. I sent your revised resume to you e-mail. I've "beefed" it up a bit for you. I would also recommend that you write a cover letter. If you need assistance with that, I'm happy to help as well. Are you open to relocation? That' of course is another consideration. Let me know how I can be of further assistance.
Mary
If this interest you, sned me a personal message and I can send the recruiter an email. It is entry level but it can get your foot in the door and it is a desk job so your mobility is not an issue.

Hi Mario,
Thanks for your service!
I apologize to be frank. Have you considered re-locate out of MI? Not surprise you sent out 500 resumes with little response. A political science degree in MI is not exactly has the highest potential to get a decent paying job. And what kind of job you are searching for??
If you can relocate, based on the employment data, there are many job openings in the oil industry (they can’t find enough people) in ND, Iowa, Huston…auto industry in Nashville, TN. Plano, TX……
Sometimes we all caught in bad situation and flexibility is the key.
Also, contact Locus group (link below). They have special program to assist Veteran job search. Call them and don’t just send out resume.

Mario,
I am from northern Michigan myself. Thank You for your honored service...
The job market in Michigan is especially harsh, especially in rural areas. I think you should tailor your resume to the specific job you are going for. Pick quality over quantity. My father who retired from the Navy in the 90's had trouble finding work after retiring in Michigan for a few years as well and got to the point where he had to leave some of his service off the resume to get recognized. I moved to a different state with more opportunity. Unfortunately in the past, states where there are few bases like Michigan seem to have sometimes a lower impression of veterans in the local job market. This is based off of my experience as a Michigan resident before anyone gets upset. However the impression now is better than back then...
You can get hired, and it can be done but the resume needs reviewed and needs to be stellar with civilian wording to describe your experience. Tailor the resume and apply for specific good jobs. There are also government jobs in different areas of Michigan and several resources on writing a government resume available. You have Veterans preference...Check USAJOBS....
Check http://michiganworks.org/ It has a great Resume maker tool as well....

Thank you for your service. is there a job in paticular that you are interested in?
If you have passed out 500 resumes, I am assuming that your resume is a general, overall view of you that you are giving employers, or potential employers. I would be more than happy to Review your resume and provide pointers to strenghten it up.
I was in your shoes when I retired, and the only real job opening at the time was trying to sell insurance. Keep the chin up. There are jobs out there, and there are a bunch of folks that contribute to this site that have excellent advice that you will find useful
Send me a copy of your resume
