Edward,

Thanks for your service. Which of the skills that you listed do you enjoy? Were either of those skills part of your service specialty? Once you answer these questions, then you can figure out how to tailor your resume to fit and set up a LinkedIn profile that emphasizes where you want to be.

Edward, my career has been with City, County and state governments. If food service employment is what you want. All governments have some type of major food service operation, contracted or with government employees. First check the web sites for open and competitive job postings, file for anything you are even closely eligible for. Never say no to yourself. Check the government web sites for job descriptions of what interests you. Visit these sites every 2 weeks. Do a web search for large institutions and give each of them a call (Personnel & Food Service Departments). Keep a record of who and when, leave your contact info, ask if you can call again. Try to find out what they want and react accordingly (educate). If they contract find out their food service needs, find out who and call them.
Regards,
Bill

Edward,

Not sure where you live, but in NYC there is an entire industry around food marketing, from illustration to photography to marketing to consulting on those three.

Would that be something you're interested in doing?

Also, Eryn is right. You'll need to build both a physical and online presence and get advice on the best ways to do that. I would also start networking with people in industries that you are interested in pursuing.
