Work doing what? Get "What Color is my Parachute" in the library. It is excellent. Do the skills inventory exercises [& everything else it says].
Attending an local or regional meetings/conferences related to the type of work you are seeking is an excellent way to get information on companies you may like to work for or professions/jobs that you are interested in. Google your area of interest and geographic area to see what is scheduled.
You usually do not need to pay registration fees to "hang around" the coffee and meet people at breaks. People like to talk abut their job & experience.
Call me @ 954 873-3487 if you need more info. Do identify yourself as vet seeking employment so I won't think it is anther robocall.
Hi Mathew,
Thank you for the great service!
First and foremost i would recommend is a linkedIn Profile.
If not already done so, go this website:
https://www.linkedin.com
and create your profile. Take your time and Include all your skills and work and non-work related experiences
If your starting to work after a gap the best way to get in is an internship/temp job after you have created your LinkedIn Profile you can search for jobs and internships
Please let me know if you need any help setting up your profile
All the best
Arvind
Hi Matthew,
First, many thanks for your great service!
What type of work and what type of company are you interested in or feel you are skilled in?
Do you have a résumé in place? If not, you'll need to list your biography in a format that provides where have been and dates that correspond to that workplace. Employment, education and military dates are a good start.
Please reach out to me if I can be of more service.
