Kenia - Reach out to local Veterans and social-service agencies in your area.

* If you have a child under 20, The American Legion may be able to help.

* Call "Swords to Plowshares" for a local referral. (415) 252-4788, http://www.swords-to-plowshares.org/

Kenia,
Check with your veterans representative office/team for your university/college, they should have the answers or be able to point you in the direction of an answer. What school are you going to?

I used the Post 9/11. It is great. I also used the old MGIB. If you have any questions about either of them, shoot me a personal message.

I assume you meant: Help with my bill before getting the Post 9/11. If that is the case, I'm not sure there are many options. It takes a while for it to come in but it is retroactive.

Kenia, I'm not clear if you are asking about getting help paying for College (GI bill) or help with day-to-day expenses.

If you are asking about day-to-day expenses, I think that's what the GI bill stipend is intended for. The idea is you can work part-time and have the stipend help with day-to-day expenses while going to College.

Perhaps another Veteran can help you understand how the benefit is intended to work.
