Issaka,
One of your best resources in small business is the SBA. Many of their staff are in US Chamber of Commerce offices. I would also start conducting Informational Interviews of companies outside of your service area. Keep in mind some times small businesses are not keen on providing direct assistance to someone who will open up shop and compete with them in their home town, especially smaller towns. I would also seek out contracts for security bids that companies or small government agencies maybe looking at awarding. It will be important to understand the market, pay rates, salary rates etc. so you know how to build your business with competitively priced staff. Thanks for your service.
