Currently management in healthcare has left me drained. I have much to offer, but need to get away from the VHA.

Veteran

Steven Anderson Amherst, NH

I have a MSW and I am a fellow alumni for the presidential management fellowship program. I also have experience and training in the Lean six sigma process improvement framework. I currently have a degree as a black belt. I need direction. I'm currently feeling stagnant and left empty from working at the VA which I could probably salvage but it is not a good relationship. Any advice on this is definitely welcome. I am thinking I need to gear down because of the complexity of the work that I was doing and the lack of trust and worthiness that I felt has left me with a disdain for the VA. In general. I have much to offer but not sure where to put my effort. I do need something quick so I'm looking even in the unprofessional arena. As a combat veteran, I have some disabilities but I could typically work through those and accomplish the mission if properly supported. Looking for advice. Thank you

Wow! You need a "break-out" suggestion? Here it is: Law School.
You can work days and attend many Law Schools at night or just go the "whole hog" - days- and get a Juris Doctor. That will open doors for you that you cannot believe at this point.

Contact me for additional information if you are serious about a "BREAKOUT.

I would be glad to provide you with assistance. I am also a Veteran (Retired Navy Hospital Corpsman [Active Duty - 4 years] and Navy Medical Service Corps Officer [Navy Reserve- 26 years] and I have only selective positive feelings regarding the services (or lack of services) through the VA. (Experience from a customer perspective seems to be totally based on the leadership within the particular VA where the services are actually being provided.) Example: I live in South Carolina near Columbia and Audiology and Ophthalmology services are fantastic and some of the other Services are challenging!

My quick thoughts for you are -"do not give up the ship!" It is always easier to find a new job when you are currently actively employed. I can help you identify opportunities that fit your career development plans - help you network to find jobs before they are advertised - develop a Master Resume document that you can use to for everything for the rest of your career.

There are no "Quick Fixes" (Sometimes Dumb Luck) so it will take work on your part to be prepared to move forward in your career. If you are interested please contact me at rconger30@gmail.com and we can begin to work it forward.
