Looking for a mentor

Veteran

Eric Taylor Salisbury, MD

I would really like to connect with someone who has project management experience. I'm just starting out, I just finished the Google Coursera Project Management Certification and looking to pivot into that from IT Support after having a 3-year gap in my professional life.

Please let me know if you'd be willing to assist me in trying to find some experience and would have any advice in helping to pad my resume.

Thank you,
Eric Taylor

Eric,
Google Project Management Institute (PMI) and enroll in one of their certification programs.
PMI is the golden standard for project management and their certifications are recognized and accepted nation wide.
Project management is a great field with lots of potential, flexibility and numerous applications
You really need, at a minimum, an associates degree and, at best, a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Several schools offer a degree in project management.
Also, the goal is NOT "to pad" your resume!!. Your resume should focus on how you can help the employer save money, save time and grow the company.

Wells Fargo also has some programs for individuals that have taken a 2+yr gap for any reason so please definitely watch our site close for programs such as I believe it was called the GLIDE program making it a little easier to get back into the workforce for people. Also, I have a program that I think you may be very interested in at Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo is part of the OneTen Coalition Program -Registration is Now Open! So your timing is wonderful.

Wells Fargo is hiring professionals into Operations & Technology roles in support of OneTen; focusing on candidates without a 4 year degree as well and hiring into self sustaining jobs. This is a coalition of companies trying to hire 1 million Black Americans over the next 10yrs ideal start date of Nov 29th it's a pilot direct hire program with imbedded professional development, mentoring and training. Are you open to a new location though, I don't believe MD is included in the many cities/states they had listed -unfortunately.

***SEPT 17th is the deadline to apply for the program it's basically like an internship program with limited slots but it will be PERM and will fill hire quickly.****

Message me direct at Melinda.Long@wellsfargo.com so I can send you the details more directly that you can send to your family and friends as well.

Please go out to LinkedIn and reach out to Michael Larkin within Wells Fargo. We have a WONDERFUL military recruiting team and I'm in the technology group as a recruiter sourcing partner. One position you may want to check out to see if you qualify is the Tech Bus Services Associate this is a great starter role and has a very large career path in the title itself or can get you to other positions within the company. Michael is a military recruiter that is working w/several recruiters and may have other suggestions or could also get you partnered with another military recruiter/s if they have roles you could qualify for now as you are building your skills up! Wish you well but please check out Wells Fargo site for ideas of openings you could be interested in and reach out to Michael Larkin on LinkedIn or through his direct email: Michael.Larkin@wellsfargo.com

Hello Eric. I started my IT career as a programmer (many years ago) and worked my way into project management. It's a good way to go, as there are many types and levels of projects in IT that need a good PM.

I'm not certified (yet) but have been managing global IT projects now for a few years and can share some real-world experience with you.

Please message me if you are interested.
