David - The process for becoming 501C3 is not overly complicated. The biggest issues surround identifying the purpose of the organization and building your charter. Everything after that closely follows the IRS documentation and submission process. I have found local attorneys to be very helpful in providing pro-bono assistance. Have you researched yet to determine if you qualify for 501-C3 classification?
