I have lotsa back issues, and have been outta work for the last 5 years. My background was in troubleshooting alarm systems as a service tech. What job do you recommend for me know getting back into the work force five years later. There is no way I can do physical labor anymore

Hi Raul

I worked in new home construction and skilled trades for several years. After reading your question a few ideas came to mind.

Companies providing services to home owners such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC all use dispatchers and other operations folks to help things move smoothly. Especially valuable to these firms are people who can provide advice to the technicians in the field while also dispatching service calls.

In new home construction, my company employed dozens of people across our construction management and warranty departments. Some of this is purchasing and negotiating with vendors, others ensure homebuyers are satisfied and receive miscellaneous repairs after one year of ownership. Still others do on site visits to in effect “manage the managers” who are in charge of the job site.
