I start my post-transition job while I'm on Terminal Leave, in June. I was told by my upcoming boss that she is looking for me to spearhead this initiative for the organization, right off the bat, and uncertain what this means in real terms. Industry is Financial Services, but specific sub-unit is Testing Center of Excellence ... so will be geared toward hiring software quality engineers for a large regional bank.

If this is still actionable then I’d ask for clarity around the goals and how you’ll be measured. That should be telling…Also, I’d clarify who are the stakeholders and why, and timing? Basically, project profile this opportunity – i.e. ask questions for what, why, when, etc.
Hey, Mack--"talent transformation strategies" can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people, but I'm happy to help you frame your thoughts. I've been working on talent development initiatives for the last twenty years and may be able to assist in some way.
Mack,
It is not too late hit a few Information Interviews of peers in the industry. You are "transitioning out the military" and are looking for some information on this new career. While you have a new job, you could could use the Informational Interview technique to get some general ideas about this brand new career field. In general people are very interested in assisting "veterans or soon to be veterans" about answering questions about their career. You fortunately have that new job, but still honestly could ask questions about the career from a pure "informational" perspective. Thank you for your service and God Bless.
