Hi Edward, one other option that you may want to consider is the IVMF program through Syracuse University. They can offer you free, online Project Management training and will pay for you to take the exam once so that you can get certified. I have used this program to obtain Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and can vouch for its legitimacy. It's free for all Veterans to use but it fills up fast so a good rule of thumb is to go to their website, ivmf.syracuse.edu, and find out when the next application cycle opens (date and time) and then register promptly so you get a spot. You should also have a current copy of your résumé and your DD 214 available to submit as part of the application process so you don't waste time.

Cpntact your local VA office

I would contact Vets2PM.com. They have "Extra Tap Class" on Mondays at 1900.

They can take your military experience and assist with gaining your PMP certification.

Hi Edward,

From what I can decipher you were honorably discharged prior to the year 2001, correct? If so, that will rule out any eligibility for CH 33 Post 9/11 GI BILL. You mentioned you had previously used some of your GI BILL when you attended trade school - I'm assuming that was CH 30 Montgomery GI BILL which had a 15-year shelf-life to it, deeming you to no longer be eligible for it either.

I would suggest calling the Dept of VA Education Hotline # at 1-888-442-4551 - I recommend calling first thing in the morning as this is a busy time of year for them with most institutions of higher learning fall semesters beginning this/next week. They'll ask for your file # (SS#) to then pull up your account. They could inform you whether you have any GI BILL educational benefits at your disposal.

If you do not, one avenue/option to explore if you meet at least a 20% service connected disability or more is to apply for CH 31 Vocational Rehabilitation educational benefits. This benefit is open to veterans who served prior to the year 2001. In order to qualify you must meet at least a 20% (or more) service connected disability. If granted, this benefit pays tuition/fees in full. You may apply via eBenefits. To apply please visit: https://www.benefits.va.gov/vocrehab/

It doesn't appear that you are eligible for VEAP benefits b/c you would have had to put money towards it before the year 1987:

Feel free to let me know any questions via this forum or call our ACP office and ask for me at 212-752-0700.

All my best,
Rob

Thank you for your reply, Brothers.
I forgot to mention that I have already used some of my G.I. Bill when I went to trade school. I just need to know how much more benefit I have available but I don't know whom to ask.
Again, thank you for the advice.

You would have enrolled in VEAP while you were on Active Duty. This enrollment would have deducted a certain amount of money each payday and this deduction would have shown up on your paystub. If you did not enroll, you did not have a deduction. So the easiest way to find out is look for an old paystub.

Aside from that, please tell more about your course requirement. There are options, often low-cost options, that you could pursue.
