Insight regarding Deloitte Cyber Risk Services

Veteran

Yinan Y Seattle, WA

Hi all,

Thank you for taking time to participate in this event and help us answer our questions! I was hoping to gain some insight regarding the type of experience that the CRS practice is typically seeking in their search for consultants. A cursory search on the existing job postings seem to indicate that it is very much so tied to a specific product line rather than the desired security domain. Is this typically the case? Also, I am curious to learn what are the most desired attributes that Deloitte looks for in a potential candidate and how do those tie in with long term success within the company? What advice would you offer for someone looking to make themselves stand out from the vast pool for candidate applications?

Thank you!

Yinan

Hi Yinan - Thank you for your service! While knowledge about specific product is desired, it's not a prerequisite for specific position (unless you are applying for a role that's highly specialized or SME level). Also, most of our professionals in the Cyber Risk Services segment are well versed across different security domains and that's something that's highly encouraged. To echo Christine's comments, some of the most important features that we usually look for in the potential candidates, among others, include willingness and ability to learn new concepts and technologies, solid interpersonal skills and ability to create and maintain professional relationships. Emphasizing those skills in your resume, and showcasing them during the interview process would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Goran

As it relates to the Cyber question - our CRS practice is growing exponentially and has needs in a variety of areas. Our practice provides a complete suite of Cyber services accross a wide variety security domains - and we are looking for talent in virtually every Cyber related area. As a result, we are looking for a wide range of cyber professionals accross the spectrum. If you have a question about a specific cyber skill set and how it applies - I'm happy to discuss. Thanks. Hello Yinan,

I am not in the CRS practice, but I find that commercial organization that are suppliers / contracts to the federal government have the need to meet specific security regulations in order to do business with the government. Such organizations actively look for professionals that understand these regulations and translate into IT infrastructure compliance. Highlighting you competence in design, delivery and operations of such regulations could be a differentiator. All the best!

Yinan,

I do not know much around our Cyber Risk practice. I do know that CRS is housed in our IT practice (I'm in our Strategy & Operations practice). I would look online to find out more regarding the specifics, but I do know it is an area we (Deloitte) are investing and growing in.

Hi Yinan,
To address "Also, I am curious to learn what are the most desired attributes that Deloitte looks for in a potential candidate and do those tie in with long term success within the company? I regularly staff practitioners on my projects and find that there are a few skills the I always look for and find are critical to the long-term success of the individual. Eagerness to learn and collaborate, along with dedication to bringing creative thinking and best industry solutions are usually the combination I look for to drive our projects and build good client relationships. In my opinion, consulting is a heavily relationship-based business. We must have very strong relationships with our colleagues and clients to deliver our best work. The key is to gather bright minds who have strong backgrounds to collectively get the best answers. I would recommend showcasing your ability to work collaboratively, tackle new challenges, thrive in ambiguous situations, and drive measurable impacts in your work. Hope this helps! Good luck!
