Deloitte Impact Day Queries- Re: New York CFO Program Analyst Application

Veteran

Daniel Benitez Kelly Hoboken, NJ

Dear Deloitte Advisor(s),

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to answer our queries.

I am a final year postgraduate law student (currently based in the UK) applying for the two year CFO Program Analyst Program in New York. Any application tips would be greatly appreciated.

Is a cover letter needed (only a CV is required)? If so who should I address the cover letter to?
Should any other documents be uploaded (none are required)?

As a law student with a commercial focus how can I best demonstrate interest/aptitude in the "CFO space/finance function"?

I do not currently have a job contact at Deloitte and am currently living abroad, how can I overcome the HR algorithm (Application Tracking System) without a referral?

Thank you for your time.

-Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for reaching out! I can see that you submitted your application to the CFO Program Analyst requisition, however it appears there are also a large number of additional candidates who have applied as well. So I would encourage you to explore all of our job postings and apply/submit your application to all positions that are of interest to you - that will ensure that many recruiters will see your information.

A cover letter is not required, however if you do provide a cover letter you should keep it short and specific (tailored to why you're a fit for that particular position) versus listing soft skills such as detail oriented, efficient, wanting to grow your career, etc. Those are great qualities but not needed on a cover letter.

I hope this helps, thanks so much for your interest!

Sasha

Daniel-

Have you used LinkedIn or other such platforms to connect with veterans at Deloitte who may be able to assist you in the process? We have a great community of veterans in our workforce.

Best of luck!

Do not forget to consider the opportunities in "Corporate America". A Law Degree and focus in transactions - business contracts - is an invaluable asset in almost any corporate position.
