Another suggestion is to use a "open market" approach to designing a logo or creating a brand image. There is a company called "TopCoder" that has a pool of freelancers that are located around the world. You tell them what you want done (logo, images, and kind of digital media) and a bunch of these freelancers compete by posting submissions for you to review and pick a winner. The winner is awarded a prize amount of of money that you have control over.

TopCoder also has freelance software designers and developers, but I think you would be more interested in the "digital presence" freelancers at the url I listed above.
