Hi Arnold,

There are many advisers on this website who are more than happy to provide free advice and as much assistance as possible. What we need from you is as much information as you can provide on what you are looking for and how your background fits into that.

What are you searching for? What steps have you taken so far to find work? Do you have an updated resume and solid template for a cover letter? The more specific your requests the easier it is for us to help.

Hello Arnold,

Here are some ideas you may or may not thought of to help ease your situation. I know how important self independence is.

Have you thought of sharing your work experience with others? How to books are a great seller. Do to your limitations the computer is going to be your biggest asset. www.clickbank.com is one of the easiest venues to get started. You can sell your own products and products of others online.

You will have to create a website and to start www.godaddy.com has great sales from time to time.

AARP also has the ability help with senior employment opportunities. Look up your local chapter and give them a call. Senior Services in your area may be able to help you with transportation and other needs do to your disabilities.

You can apply to have your state pay your medicare premium (that is $104.90 extra a month) if your state offers it. Contact your local Human Social Services agency.

Working from home is great but you have to think about what it is you can do from home that people want to buy.

I took my hobby of Income Tax Preparation and turned it into supplemental income all through my adult life while still working. Now unable to punch a clock I turned it and other talents into what I do today. I am working on one an e-book on how to start your own Income tax business. Another one is Financial Literacy for kids 9-18 year old and young adults. A subject that is lacking in our schools today.

I had a serious illness 2 years ago that put me out of work for 8 months, last year it was a different illness that I have just finished treatment for. I combined all of my jobs personal financial knowledge into my Home Business,

If I can be of any further help to you finding your niche let me know.

Hope this helps
All the best in the future

Arnold, Here is my heart-felt opinion: No Veteran of the US Military should have to work at 79 years old. If you desire to "work" so that you are not bored, that is different. There are hobbies you can do without having to stand. Some hobbies may generate income.

If you want to work to supplement your income, my heart says there are services out there that can trim the budget in some areas and create surplus for other needs. Are you receiving assistance of any kind? Are there expenditures that can be trimmed or eliminated?

And finally, my heart says someone should adopt you. You know? Look in on you, help you sort things out and see if there is another way to manage or a hobby to keep your brain function optimal and maybe generate a little "jingle".

Hi Arnold,

Thank you for your question.

ACP AdvisorNet is an online community assisting Veterans in developing and achieving their professional goals by connecting them with business leaders from companies nationwide. Through our Q&A forum, Veterans can ask questions about career development, employment, and small business.

ACP AdvisorNet is a program of American Corporate Partners (ACP), a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting veterans in their transition from the armed services to the civilian workforce.

ACP does not provide financial counseling or jobs placement, so you may be thinking of another similar organization's advertisements. We offer veterans tools for long-term career development through mentoring, career counseling, and networking opportunities.

All the best,
Ali
