Need some help with a Wordpress website, can anyone help?

I have a website that I built but for a cyclist that is riding 10,000 miles for childhood cancer and it is my first website to build and I can't figure out how to personalize it. I have built it out using the visual tool in Wordpress, but in order to personalize it I need to know css or php and I have yet to find a set of instructions that are dummied down enough for me to understand. I have my own website that was built by another guy who I am not associated with anymore and I would like to change it up as well. I just need some assistance in how to actually personalize the sites. I don't have money to pay a company to do it, plus I need to learn it for myself. The sites are: www.kens10000milesforchildhoodcancer.com and www.inklingdesignteam.com

Thanks
Jack

So I have tried that code academy link and it seems ok. I did some exercises on it last night, and will continue. Thanks for that info Krystal. Brian yes I have installed a theme its X or whatever they like to call it. I will reach out to you later today and email you and maybe we can get some dialogue going about it. I appreciate the offer. Thanks

Jack,
Have you installed a theme of any kind or are you using the standard WP theme that comes with WP?

It would be very easy to install a theme that could give you a more personalized look without having to know code. I installed the theme on my site and have edited it many times without any code knowledge. www.VetLaunched.com

The key is to find a theme that has the general layout you want. Keep in mind you will need to have content/images for any page you create. Sometimes a theme can look great because they have added excellent images to it. Try not to choose a theme based on the images they use to advertise it...use the look of the layout.

Free themes can cause trouble. I would shy away from that. But a theme is a one time cost and you can find a ton of them for $25-$100. http://themeforest.net/

I would be happy to help you further. Please contact me at brian@VetLaunched.com

Ok, thanks Krystal. I will look it up. i have been looking for something easy to learn but haven't found it yet. Last night made a mistake with website and it was completely screwed up looking. I couldn't fix it. Its hosted by go daddy so I called them and thankfully I have managed wordpress with them and I was able to reset up to 30 days back. I was worried for a while though. I look at the site and let you know if I can understand, thanks again.

I'm not much of a coder myself; however, I have been trying to learn a little for the same reason - to be able to work on my website and save money. I'm using this free website - http://www.codecademy.com/learn - I hope it helps.
