Seeking advice in how to find a home based or remote job that can supplement.

Veteran

Kevin Burch Grantsville, UT

I am wanting to find something in logistics that I could supplement with my current career. I have served 10 years in the Army Reserves and I am currently a Logistical Management Specialist DA Civilian for a Brigade and a Transportation Officer in the Reserves, and I would like to find something that I can do some what on the side but being home based or as a remote location within my current fields. Seeking advice in what to look for, where to look, how to land a position, and how to conduct the balances of what I currently do and am wanting to do.

Kevin, I don't have a specific answer for you, but some advice that might get you there...as Harry has already demonstrated, small to medium size businesses, especially those involved in direct marketing, may be able to offer a part-time gig close to what you're looking for.

One way to find those opportunities outside of general forums like this is to become involved in local small business / entrepreneurial forums and advertise your goals there. If you live near a larger town/city, www.meetup.com is a good way to find those forums. Can also do a web search for small business spaces / startup incubators / startup accelerators. Networking with local CEOs and entrepreneurs may help generate leads and answer your questions.

One other tip is to look for recruiters from logistics consulting companies on LinkedIn, find out which LinkedIn forums they play in, join those forums and post your request and qualifications, similar to what you've done here (but with a more targeted audience).

Best,
Trevor

Hello Harry,

I am interested in learning more about becoming an AMSOIL Dealer. I am interested in Oil and know that it can be a profitable entity to be in. Was wondering though if we could talk about how you are involved and the benefits of being involved as a dealer. Please email me at burch_kevin@yahoo.com, it is my personal email. Also I would like to submit a request in for the packet that describes dealership that I seen on your website. Thank you for reaching out to me and I too look forward to opening a dialogue with you about this as well.

Hello Kevin,

Your transportation exposure/experience caught my attention. I can suggest a part time (can be full time later), home-based business with your background. (disclaimer - I am involved in this business) Please check out www,syn-lubes.com and look at "Business Opportunity". My other web sites are: www.4topoil.com and www.natural-fertilizers.com. I look forward to opening a dialogue with you about this.

Cordially,
Harry Rakfeldt
