I have applied to many law enforcement agencies both federal and local and I know I have a clean background, and value my integrity and character which i've been told is very motivated, respectful and down to earth. I would like to hear from some advisors on how I can portray myself better as the right choice for law enforcement position whether it be local municipal, state, or federal. I really want to have my career in law enforcement.

De'Mario,
Getting into law enforcement is incredibly frustrating, you just have go forward with the belief that you have what it takes to make it. First, look at the minimum requirements and ensure that you meet them. If you don't, strive to meet them. The DC area is awash with applicants trying to get the same job you are, many of them are veterans. For federal jobs, look on "USAJOBS.com", look through the vacancy announcements and you'll see what they are looking for in the way of applicants. For local jobs, find the departments you want to work for, look them up on the internet and then go visit them! The better agencies have recruiting offices and they can give you an idea of what they are looking for. Just like you profile says, be humble, respectful, show your desire, and if they don't ask, make sure they know your background- you have to sell yourself but not come of the wrong way.
I hope this helps!
