I would like to get a certified PMP but currently have only been a Project Manager for one year. I was doing higher level work while active duty adn want to know how I would transfer this experience and work experience into PM hours to fulfill the Audit.
thanks

Angela - if you are audited, how do you get hours signed off for personal projects. If I log my time for the military know I have the required hours I just don't understand if I am audited, how I will get in touch with military personnel across the globe to get the audit paperwork completed.
Linda,
Thank you so much for the response and I appreciate your time. I have read through the PMBOK but only briefly as I am still getting my MBA and between that and work I am really busy. Our company has just offered to pay for the PMP certificate, so I figured when I graduate I would pursue the PMP. I guess I will just have to read more carefully through the PMBOK and really list out my military service to get the total hours. I thought there may be a calculator that takes military service into account, but haven't seen one yet. Again, thank you for your time and have a great day.

Gregory, thank you for your service. I achieved PMP certification in 2001, and I know that things have changed since then, so please verify my responses with the current PMI requirements.
PMI does NOT require that you were in the role of Project Manager to count your hours of experience. If you were a contributor to a project, you may count those hours of experience. You need to review the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) document to understand the various phases of a project ... the process flow of a project ... and how to put your experience into PMI terminology. PMI has a language all its own, and they want you to use their language as you describe your experience.
I hope this is helpful.
Linda
