I have my Green Belt and have recently began working towards by Black Belt. My thoughts on Six Sigma is that there are several other programs that work well in conjunction with Six Sigma but that Six Sigma is still an intergral piece to being Lean and obtaining reductions and cost improvements. It is however not the only piece.

Hello Lawrence. I hope you are doing well. I would like to say that I am a fan of Lean Six Sigma and have been on both sides of the program at my current installation. As a Black Belt I believe the certification is still highly regarded in the business world; mostly in an industrial environment.

If you are looking at other areas of the business community like the IT field, HR or logistical support on the commercial side I would suggest you take a look at more information on this new initiative called "Big Data" or Data Scientist. I've read some articles on it but not sure if it will take over Six Sigma but it's worth a look. Just depends on your idea of getting ahead and staying ahead.

If you are looking for a new field/career that can be highly valuable to a company that needs the quality perspective of a Six Sigma belt and the detail of someone that thrives in an analytical setting, this new "Data Scientist" might be for you.
