How to finish children's book

Veteran

Tyler Mitchell Indianapolis, IN

I recently finished writing a children's book and I need assistance with finding an editor and illustrator. If anyone has a place/person they can steer me to, I would appreciate it.

*My book is about my family hanging a Christmas tree upside down to keep my young twin brothers out of it. We made it to local television.

Hello Tyler. There is a highly regarded art school in Indianapolis. Contact them. They probably know some graduates that would like to do contract work. Also, if cost is critical, the school might have some seniors graduating that would love to have some experience like that for their resumes. You would be helping them out. LOL Not my field....just some ideas.

Good luck and many thanks for your service!!

Hi Tyler,

Are you looking for a local editor and illustrator? I don't personally know anyone but I could put out some feelers within the ACP community to see if I could network my way into some resources for you.

Look up local community comic conventions. Stressing the local. There are so many illustrators in the community with lots of different styles. They're also a tight community, and tend to collaborate quite a bit, if they can't do it, they probably know someone that can or in the style that you're looking for. Even if you reach out to the event sponsor, you can probably get a list of vendors from past events and start there.

Here are some resources I got from some colleagues!

I think you should be able to email some people on the creative team and maybe they have some networking in Indianapolis.

To the ACP advisor, yes.

This is an Indiana story and I'd love to have locals help make it. That is my preference, but I know it doesn't always mean I can get it.

I don't know how to respond to each reply, sorry. -

Joe, I will keep that as a consideration thank you. I'll consider this for sketches to help get things started. I'm trying to find someone that can also give me ideas of what should be illustrated. I have some ideas already of what I want to see but someone with the experience of how the book should flow is what would help a lot.
