Anyone know of charities and resources for veterans with cancer?

Veteran

Daniel Stevenson Brooklyn, NY

Anyone know if there are any charities or organizations that support veterans with cancer? I took a break from working (ER nurse) and went on vacation to Brazil. What I thought was an ulcer turned out to be pancreatic cancer. While in the hospital in Brazil, the tumor obstructed my stomach, causing me to lose my ability to eat. I was put on IV feeding (TPN) and finally underwent a procedure (transpyloric stent) to improve my eating.

After 50 days in the hospital, I am finally getting ready for discharge to head to Los Angeles to contiune my chemo which should by covered by insurance. During the last 2 months, I haven't been able to work as the hospital bills continue. I do have travel health insurance but they have yet to reimburse me for anything.

With my chemo schedule, I can't work as a per diem nurse. Anyone know of any part time remote jobs for nurses? I have to earn money somehow. If you happen to know about disability programs (social security) please let me know.

Also, at 48 I am on the younger side of people diagnosed with this cancer. I was a JSTAR pilot for several years which had a rather large radar on the bottom of the jet. I was wondering if anyone knew of a link between radar survailence platforms and cancer?

Thanks
Dan

edit: I have been in contact with Pancan for treatment options

Also Check w/ the VA. If it can be linked to service, they will help.

Thank you for your response! I will check out the links when I feel up to it. My chemo session finished up yesterday morning and it causes me a lot of abdominal pain and discomfort.

I am hopefully getting discharged today! My motivation will be higher once I get some fresh air.
