Strategies for joining a real estate brokerage in Maryland

Veteran

Reis McCullough Olney, MD

Planning on completing pre-licensing requirements and becoming a licensed Real Estate agent in MD by beginning of 2021. Would appreciate any advice in joining a brokerage (how to, interviewing strategies, join a team?, etc.) and any other advice to help get this new career going in the right direction. Thank you!

Join a brokerage corporate office that has a marketing team to help you with that side of the house. Majority of time this is where agents fail. Proper marketing. Coldwell Banker seems to be doing pretty good with their stuff, but independent agents, which the upper half of agents are, don't know this side of the business, or have a system in place. I would look into the MLS and find the top 1% agents and see what they are doing to be competitive and corner the market. Understand that real estate isn't what it was 10-15 years ago. If you are not keeping ahead of the current times, the next thing will pass you right up. Real Estate as we knew it, is gone, and there is a HUGE change coming that most don't wanna believe in cause they are too close to the industry. My father to be included with 35yrs in all aspects of real estate. Marketing matters, you are your brand ALWAYS. Best of luck in a very competitive and ever evolving market.

Hi Adam, thank you for your response. Right now I'm planning on pursuing residential brokerage but an open to learning about the commercial side as well.
Best,
Reis
