What to wear a middle mgmt job at Raytheon?

Veteran

Jason Torence Waltham, MA

I just got a middle management, program manager functional, job at Raytheon. I have worn a uniform my whole career and have no clue what attire is expected. A suit every day? Button up and tie? Just a button up and slacks?

I want to present a professional image as much as possible but I don't want to go overboard wearing suits everyday if it isn't necessary.

I am asking now instead of waiting to feel out the office because I have no civilian work clothes and need to buy stuff before I start. I just don't want to buy a bunch of suits only to find out that I don't need them.

The quick answer is that Raytheon is generally business casual (dress shirt, dress pants, no tie, no jacket) on a day-to-day basis for most professional positions.

The exception may be during formal meetings, customer reviews, customer visits, when a suit/tie is more appropriate.

Hi Jason,

I would suggest reaching out to your manager and asking for his or her guidance. Sites in the northeast tend to be more formal, whereas sites in southwest may have a more relaxed set of norms.

Congrats and welcome to the team!
