What social media strategies would you suggest for an aspiring Sales Consultant?

Greetings,

I just recently accepted an offer to serve as a Sale Consultant for a reputable furniture manufacturer.

Most of the Sales Consultants that I work with rely on in store traffic only to meet or exceed weekly sales goals.

I would like to develop and implement a social media strategy to help drive traffic and build my client base. The company allows us great flexibility in this regard just as long as we protect the brand.

Does anyone have any tips or recommendations for implementing a personal and cost-effective social media strategy to help build my business? I don't want to rely solely on in-store traffic to meet my goals.

Any advice that you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Best,

Deon

Deon,
I hope all is well. Great initiative and energy, as always! I would stress incorporating five components into your framework. Hardware, software, data, procedures and of course people. Think of what your interface will do:
What is the specific purpose?
What is it going to do for you and the company?
Are the cost of creating/maintaining offset by the benefits?
I hope this may prove helpful in some way and I am glad to continue the dialogue. I am really happy to see things are working well. Bravo!
Best-
Doug

Hi Deon,
So as not to overwhelm yourself, personally I would focus on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I disagree that you have to have 'professional' photos...as long as they are clear, show some feature, and have an 'enticing' comment I think it is fine. You could could even do some series of photos...like during football season a selfie of you on/next to a piece of furniture with a mug in hand...catchy caption...Lounging in leather comfort all season long...Go Steelers. :-)
Also, if you start with social media you must be prepared to post, post, post. Add hashtags, hashtags, hashtags!

Great idea! The key with instagram, twitter, and really anywhere you're going to be posting photos is that you want the photos to be artfully done. As already mentioned in a previous answer to your question, the photos should look professional. Consider looking at the trends with photos on these sites and on Etsy.com (though you won't be able to post there) to see how they create their images. If you can create a look that people want, you'll likely get them to come to the store to find it...or to yours or the company's website for purchase if you're directing them there. You can even play with fun filters on instagram. So much is purchased online, including furniture. If that's a possibility in terms of your sales, you will benefit even more.

Hi Deon -

Great question, shows you are a forward thinker !

Build or contract someone to build your own website. The first step in building a website is deciding what message you want to communicate. This is the toughest part.

Once the website is built, print business cards that point to your website.

Technical resources that can help you with building your website (after you have deliberated on the message) are available on upwork.com or mturk.com. Ideas for visual themes can be seen at themeforest.net.
