Employers of veterans

Veteran

Nicholas Bell Lawrenceville, GA

I'm currently transitioning to civilian life. I'm going to be moving to Georgia and was wondering which employers were in high demand for veteran employees within the state?

AT&T has a special program for veterans -- check it out at this site: http://att.jobs/doing-great-things/military

Hi Nicholas,

My suggestion is that you broaden your thinking from finding companies that like to hire veterans to the skills and capabilities you acquired, while serving, and how they can help you succeed at any company. You, and fellow veterans, have qualities that any company would want. The trick now is to identify the type of work that is of interest to you, and that you have the skills to succeed in.

Hello Nicholas,
GE has offices in Georgia. You can check our career site www.gecareers.com and you will be able to see the jobs, locations, and minimum requirements needed for each role. We very often state that one of the requirements is "bachelor's degree or equivalent military experience". We have a Veteran's network at GE so if you are hired you should look in to joining that group. Let me know if you have additional questions.
Good luck with your transition!

Hello Nicholas,
Are you looking for something specific or just anything because you want to live in Georgia? Do you need to go back to school for training and/or education? There are a lot of questions that has to be answered before you look for a job. Even if you knew about all of the high demand jobs, do you meet or exceed the job requirements to get those jobs? A place to gauge what might be available in the area you want to live in is Craigslist/Jobs. That will give you an idea of the job environment that you might be stepping into.
