Egberto,

My guess is that if you're starting a stone restoration services business, you may not have too many examples of your work in your portfolio, and references. If such is the case, you might consider visiting local historical societies and volunteer your services on projects. If possible, seek a diversity of projects that will enable you to create a broad portfolio--also, mention that you will want a recommendation for you. Whether you do this at a reduced fee or pro bono in exchange for the portfolio is up to you. If I were doing it, I'd try to work freebies into my work schedule, but make certain that you're cherry picking those that have broad commercial appeal. Another place you might poke is architectural firms specializing in restorations.

Keep good notes and take lots of before/after photos for your website and marketing leave behinds. Any questions, give a shout.

Best regards and good luck!

Doug

Don't know a thing about stone restoration!

I would think you have to go to the actual operators here. Why don't you reach out to a stone restoration business not in your intended market area. Tell them your a Veteran and ask if they'd answer a few questions on their operation and/or the current market conditions

Good luck!
