I started a business and I am a service-connected disabled veteran. I was advised to become an official service-connected disabled owned business, but I am having trouble doing it because when I tried to register my business, I was asked for a DUN & Bradstreet, 9 digit number. Now, I went to the site of this DUN & Bradstreet as directed and it makes no sense at all.
Is this actually the way to officially have the SDVOB identifier? Is it the same to have the Women Minority Owned Small Business?
If anyone has done either one of these or both and can guide me, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Yes. In order to do business with the Federal Government, you must have what is known as a DUNS number. When I retired from the military in 1998 my wife took a position as an independent contractor at a Navy Clinic. In order to get the position she had to have a DUNs number. The process is not difficult at the @ the D-n-B website. Just have re-read the instructions to ensure you understand them. Make sure you describe your business well. Ours is a women owned, minority, veteran owned. Best wishes!
