Does anyone have any advice on how to find veteran candidates for the construction field and trade apprenticeships?

I am trying to find veterans that are getting out of the military and are looking to get into the construction fields. I have tried the ACAPs, but I have not received referrals from them at all. H2H/usmilitarypipeline has been pretty good. The new jobs website that the President touted has produced 0 candidates. Can anyone give me tips on getting the word down to the troops? These are good jobs and apprenticeships. I just can't seem to find guys to fill them.

My son finished his enlistment with the Marines and is now a NY Dockbuilder. He is on a huge project building the Tappan Zee Bridge. He found out about the opportunity and also got some assistance with the application process from Helmets to Hardhats Program. I think they have an organization in each state. Check on web. I am a Navy Vet who seperated and went to a University, ultimately pursued a useless business degree and still cannot find work in the electrical field. I got in contact directly through a local workers union and hope to start an apprenticeship soon. I would have saved myself a lot of time and money if any career counsellor, coach, or job site explained the benefits of trade skills earlier. If you find a reliable way of informing active duty or seperated vets, and set up a convenient referal system to help them transition smoothly, it would be a great help.

For Army veterans or transitioning soldiers, it may pay off to reach out to active duty Career Counselors or Reserve Component Career Counselors (RCCCs). RCCCs are usually co-located with or in close proximity to the ACAP operation and they have to see every transitioning Soldier.

As an active duty Career Counselor I am concerned with the soldiers I serve and want to provide them with the best opportunities even if they decide not to continue on active duty. I know that many of my peers feel the same way. Career Counselors are often an underutilized resource within an organization. You may find them very helpful.
